Nike Trainer 1.3 Mid Shield Rivalry - Army and Navy

The Nike Trainer 1.3 Mid Shield Rivalry - Army and Navy

The Nike Trainer 1.3 Mid Shield Rivalry Pack has featured the premiere college football programs in the country, and so far we have seen version representing the Pac 12 (Oregon and Stanford), Big 10 (Michigan State and Ohio State), as well as the most dominating conference in College Football to day, the SEC (LSU).  With the BCS Bowl Games gearing up for the new year, Nike concludes the Pack paying tribute to the most unique rivalry so far.  A patriotic theme closes out the Nike Trainer 1.3 Mid Shield Rivalry Pack with a natural rivalry between two branches of the United States Armed Forces – the Army Black Knights and Navy Midshipmen.

Nike Trainer 1.3 Mid Shield Rivalry - Army and NavyBeginning with the Army Black Knights, a Khaki and Desert color scheme blends together for an  almost mono colored look.  Fitting for the troops fighting for freedom in the desert, the midsole is done with a speckle design, which is best observed up close.  A small Black Knight sword logo is printed on the throat line, while the heel counter has the “ARMY” logo in the appropriate military font.  Rounding out the most simple colored version in the Rivalry Pack is the Army “A” on the shield and “BOOTS ON THE GROUND” quote, both found on the top of the tongue.  Matching up against Army is the blue and grey of the Navy.  For the men and women serving out at sea, the color scheme matches the blue camouflage uniforms worn while on the ship.  A dark blue and grey digi design makes up the midsole and heel, creating a lively look, while four red, white, and blue symbols are printed on the counter.  Gold Navy Anchor logos complete the shoe on the throat line, tongue, and when both insoles are place side by side.
Nike Trainer 1.3 Mid Shield Rivalry - Army and NavyOn December 10, 2011, the Navy Midshipmen defeated the Army Black Knight 27-21 in front of a lively crowd in Washington DC.  The win marked a 10th straight victory for the Midshipmen over Army.  At the end of the day, the rivalry between the two Armed Forces branches is not filled with bad blood, as the big picture of defending the United States brings the two sides together for a greater purpose.  The Rivalry pack has treated sneaker fanatics to a very unique theme, using an appropriate trainer model as a template.  Next season, Nike is bound to continue the new trend.  The rivalries and model which will take the spotlight next are bound to create great anticipation.  Just like the preceding version, the Army and Navy inspired Nike Trainer 1.3 Mid Shield Rivalry specials saw a very limited release before their match up earlier this month.
