An extended NBA lockout left the 2012 All-Star Game in doubt.  Thankfully, the players and owners resolved their issues, preserving not only the season, but the 2012 All-Star Game, which will be held this Sunday at the Amway Center – home of the Orlando Magic.  The two top stars of Adidas basketball will take the court as starters for the Eastern Conference in their second half  of the season signature models.  A tradition started last season, the half way point of the NBA season marks a switch for the most dominant center and reigning league MVP.  Adidas has set the table for Dwight Howard with the adiPower Howard 2 and for Derrick Rose with the adiZero™ Rose 2.5, both done in blindingly bright Orange color schemes.

Marking the half point of the NBA season, the All-Star game is always met with fanfare and speculation revolving around both the festivities as well as the upcoming trade deadline.  There has been no bigger name regarding trades throughout the season than Dwight Howard.  With the option to enter the free agent market at the end of the year, rumors are swirling around the departure of Howard from the Magic.  Nonetheless, Howard has maintained his high play this season, earning the starting center position for the Eastern Conference.  The High Energy adiPower Howard 2 is the choice for the most dominant center in the league for the All-Star Game.  This simple color scheme shines bright, accented with white Adidas logo stripes on the sides and gold logos on the throat line, tongue, and on the miCoach unit on the outsole.  The orange seamlessly gleams through on the leather colored, crackled patterned upper, and the wood grain designed toe box.  Last year, Howard would wear a Red Carpet version of the Superbeast, more luxurious than the bright colored Orange for 2012.  Unlike Howard, Derrick Rose will continue his All-Star run with a blazing color scheme on the court.

Derrick Rose started in his first All-Star game last year equipped with the Sun Yellow adiZero™ Rose 1.0, later debuting the adiZero™ Rose 1.5 after halftime.  And just as the Sun Yellow Rose 1.0 did not match the All-Star uniforms, the High Energy version of the Rose 2.5 opts for flash and style.  Covered in the bright orange, white Adidas logo stripes outlined in black break up the mono-color on the Sprint Frame, with the inner lining done in grey.  Gold is offered as the accent color, making up the Rose logo on the tongue, Adidas logo at the throat line, adiZero logo on the collar, and the miCoach housing at the mid foot.  The final touch of flash is present on the shiny and smooth toe box, which has a glossy hardwood-like look, and with a translucent orange rubber outsole.
