Our year end review began with a look at the special color schemes/themes for the season and the first half of our top performers of 2012.  Adidas and Li-Ning showed their solid performance taking spots 9-6.  Moving to the top 5, we see a blend of new faces and old timers from the past.  Without further delay, our final 5 of 2012 begins with a relative unknown Chinese company.

Peak Team Dynamic 2012

5 – Peak Team Dynamic 2011-2012

Peak Basketball cracks our list to start the top 5 with their team shoe of the season.  This solid performer provides every aspect as basketball player needs – comfort, stability, great traction, and most importantly, versatility.  A true team shoe, the Team Dynamic earns the position based on versatility for all players and positions.  In other words, if you have not tried on a pair of Peak Basketball performers, this one might be for you.

Adidas adiZero™ Rose 2.5

4 – Adidas adiZero™ Rose 2.5

The adiZero™ Crazy Light 2 may be the lightest basketball shoe ever produced, but for this season, the highest performing light weight shoe on the market is the adiZero™ Rose 2.5.  Adidas has cornered the market in terms of light weight performance, and the Rose signature line continues to deliver the goods.  This performer is the fastest and quickest shoe on our list, but no stones are left unturned with a tight Sprint Web upper for a locking fit and the dependable Sprint Frame chassis offering the stability need for those violent cuts and breaks on the court.  Adidas has established the Rose line as the pinnacle in performance basketball for the past two years, and the trend looks to continue into next season.  We can all hope that Rose can make a full recovery and continue his ascent with the adiZero™ Rose signature line.

Reebok Question Mid (2012 Reissue)

3 – Reebok Question (2012 Reissue)

Not a prominent player for a number of years, Reebok makes our list with a reissue for the ages.  Allen Iverson took the courts in his rookie season equipped with the Reebok Question.  His career on the court and with Reebok started off with a bang, as the Question remains one of the greatest performing basketball sneakers of all time.  Comfortable and versatile, there is no denying that this reissue is warranted and more than worthy of the number 3 position.

Adidas Top Ten 2000 (2012 Reissue)

2 – Adidas Top Ten 2000 (2012 Reissue)

The spirit of the “Feet You Wear” technology lives on with this Adidas reissue landing at the number 2 spot.  Like the Question, the Top Ten 2000 is tied to a rookie from the 1996 NBA Draft – Kobe Bryant.  A precursor to the KB8/Crazy 8, the 2012 reissue is still an amazing performer.  Natural court feel gives this performer a step up on many of the shoes released today, and the high ranking on this countdown is more than justified.  In fact, this can be considered the best performing release this year.

Peak JaVale McGee

1 – Peak JaVale McGee

Marking a bookend to the top five is Peak Basketball.  The first signature JaVale McGee shoe is just an outstanding performer.  Solid in all phases, this performer plays just like the Peak Dynamic but in a much more aggressive sense.  An inner bootie brings a gripping fit, while the Cushion-3 and Foothold technologies keep the foundation comfortable and stable.  On the court, the shoe is versatile enough for all positions and is just a joy to play in.  Peak has a winner on their hands showing they can hang with the big boys in the performance department.
