All-Star 2013 Spotlight Special: Nike Barkley Posite Max – Area 72
All-Star Weekend has come and gone, and with it we saw some unique releases from Nike. Taking an “Area 72” theme to match the Houston backdrop, the Nike All-Star releases were similar to those from 2012 – a space based theme. The debut of a hybrid Charles Barkley models was included in the All-Star pack. Blending the retro Air Max Barkley with foamposite technology is one of the most anticipated shoes of the Spring. Our All-Star 2013 Spotlight Special looks at the Area 72 Nike Barkley Posite Max.

A Glow-in-the-Dark outsole and speckles with an alien patch on the tongue brings the Area 72 to life
A black based upper is given pop with speckles all over the foamposite material, laces, and Max Air bubble. Below, the glow-in-the-dark outsole has red text molded in with a purple Nike swoosh logo at the heel. On the upper, speckles are plastered on the foamposte and Max Air unit, which also have a glow-in-the-dark effect. Red and purple accent the black base of the shoe on the midsole, swoosh logos, Max Air bubble, heel tab, and Charles Barkley patch on the heel. To bring the Area 72/Space theme full circle is a star all over graphic on the inner lining and a green alien with a backpack on the tongue.
Nike has once again outdone themselves this year with the Area 72 theme this year. The Barkley Posite Max brings a nice touch with the glow-in-the-dark feature that fits in quiet well with the foamposite based upper. And even though Sir Charles himself is not active to wear the shoes on the court these days, they were represented well during the Rising Stars Challenge as well as the Saturday night events. The Area 72 color scheme is just the first in what should be one of the more popular models for Nike Sportswear this year. Released during All-Star Weekend, the Area 72 Barkley Posite Max was available in very limited numbers.
